I naturally have very wavy and frizzy hair, and it’s not the pretty kind of waves either. It tends to be a mixture of waves, half curls, and some straight pieces. So, it’s a fun mixture. It took me several years to figure out how to tame it down without straightening it every day, and I’m excited to share my routine with you!
The best part of this routine is that I have been able to cut out straightening my hair. This has saved me so much time in the morning! It has also saved the life of my hair. I remember blow drying and straightening my hair every morning at 4:30 during my high school years. I have no idea how I did that every day.
These days I’m not concerned with my hair being perfectly straight, so these products have really helped me. They smooth my hair out and give it enough style that it’s easy and quick to fix in the morning.
Shampoo and Conditioner
First of all, I use Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine shampoo and conditioner. You may be able to use the other products without using this shampoo and conditioner combo with similar results, but I know this shampoo and conditioner have made a difference in the frizz-level of my hair. I also let the conditioner sit on my hair for several minutes before rinsing it out.
1. Heat Protection Spray
After drying my hair with a towel, I part my hair out and spray the Beyond the Zone Turn up the Heat protection spray in sections. I make sure to get underneath my hair, the sides, and the ends. I don’t spray directly on top because it can sometimes make it look greasy. This spray smells amazing and really does prevent heat damage.
2. Anti-Frizz Serum
Next, I use the Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Anti-Frizz Serum. It just takes one pump, and it also smells amazing!
3. Extraordinary Oil
With the Anti-Frizz Serum still in my hand, I add two pumps of the L’Oreal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Oil. Then, I mix the serum and oil together in my hands and start smoothing it into my hair. Again, I do not touch the top of my head, but I make sure the serum covers everything else.
After that, I blow dry my hair. I never flip my hair over to dry it because that makes it frizzy! I just direct the air down and into my hair using my fingers to fluff the hair out for more air flow. Even though I have long hair, it only takes me ten minutes to apply the products and blow dry my hair. So this is definitely a time saving routine!
Just for reference, the first picture shows my natural hair. I don’t have many pictures of my natural hair, so I apologize for the quality. Believe me though, it’s just more of that on the ends too! The second picture is with products and a hair dryer. The frizz and waves are gone!
